Test your patient’s contrast sensitivity accurately achieving standardized outcomes with built-in screen luminance calibrator. Automated test strategies, simplify administration. Test contrast under different lighting conditions with patient real time luminance reader, and have all results plotted onto a graphical report for easy comparison.
The general approach is to start with the quicker method of testing with letters, and if a deficiency is found with this test, then a more comprehensive test is performed with sine-gratings (spatial frequency).
The test starts by first estimating thresholds with large jumps in contrast levels, and then proceeds to a precision refinement with small increments. This prevents doctor and patient fatigue, as this test can take time to complete.
Since the sine-gratings test can be complicated to administer, as the lower levels of contrast may even be hard for the doctor to determine, Chart2020® has built a mini repeater screen with a private iconic-answer mode for the doctors convenience to mark the patients’ responses.
A report sample is shown below which includes a graphical and tabulated report, and has a customizable age based overlay for normative comparisons.
The test is also suitable to be used in
- Pre-testing exam rooms
- Clinical trial studies
- Ophthalmic hospital units
- Self-service vision booths

Chart2020’s contrast sensitivity test can be used to assess patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, cataracts, and amblyopia and to help evaluate the need for various treatments including LASIK, refractive surgeries, and IOLs. The test is used worldwide because of its ease of administration, accuracy, and detailed reports which doctors can use to motivate for surgery and refractive treatments.
