Step 1

Select the language of your preference by selecting the flag at the bottom of the screen.  At the date of publication we have 5 languages available.  If your language is not currently active or not in the list please contact us at support@chart2020.com and we will add your language preference

Step 2

Measure the length of the line and setting the testing distance. Make sure you measure very accurately to insure the various charts and targets are presented correctly

Step 3

Setting up your exam room

If you have a dual monitor installation, please select your configuration of doctor and patient monitor.  If you have your PC at the testing side and want to use your machine for non Chart2020 options then select the first option in the monitor setup options.  For this option to work correctly windows needs to be setup in extended monitor mode and not in duplicated monitor mode.  You will not be able to setup a dual monitor system if your windows settings are set to duplicate the monitors.

You can also select if you want a mirrored view of the system, this allows you to mount the Chart2020 monitor behind the patient.

If you are using a Polarized monitor select this option.  The 3D auto-guided tests and full polarized library will then render correctly on your monitor.

Remember to press save on the top right side of the screen

Fine tune your Start-up options

Select if you wish the system to start with the logMAR  chart or the Dyop targets.

If you select the logMAR chart you can further select the masking mode.  Most doctors prefer the horizontal masking mode.

Choose your preferred notation display in the dropdown option.  Feet / Meters / Decimal are the most commonly used options.

Select also the default size row you would like to be displayed on first start and every time you access the letter chart.

Tip: Did you know that pressing the space bar always returns you to the logMAR Chart and then pressing it multiple lowers the acuity step at a time.

Remember to press save on the top right side of the screen

Fine tune your Chart Preferences

If you wish to display a customized logMAR Chart with only certain rows available then select the logMAR Customized option. You can also customize Crowding bar options, additional language fonts (Sloan compliant), colors for the size notation on the side of the chart as well as whether you wish to see the active row underlined to indicate to the patient which line to read.

Remember to press save on the top right side of the screen.

Luminance calibration

In order to correctly test contrast sensitivity in particular you need to calibrate your screen brightness.  You can do this by simply attaching the Spyder Express 4 or 5 to your USB port and placing it on the screen in the designated area.  You can test your current luminance and then set it to 85cd/m2.

The luminance will automatically adjust based on the target being displayed.  For example any letter chart will auto adjust to the correct luminance, and the contrast test will auto adjust.  The (e)ETDRS test provides an option to test on high luminance or 85cd/m2.

Anaglyph to monitor calibration

In order to display the binocular targets and the 3D targets correctly please use this option to setup the correct colors of your anaglyphs.

Choose whether you use Red | Green or Red | Blue anaglyphs.

Choose which side of the anaglyphs the lenses of your anaglyphs are set to.  Generally is in the Right side (default)

Follow the instructions on the screen and change between the 3D and the Binocular option to setup the anaglyphs correctly.

Remember to press save on the top right side of the screen

Setting up your IR Remote Control

Make sure you have the drivers installed for the USB receiver.  Click on the drivers button if you haven’t installed the software yet.  Unplug your USB receiver, install the software and then plug the receiver back into a USB port.  For a detailed overview of the process you can view a video by clicking the troubleshooting button.

If your drivers are installed correctly, then select the correct USB port for the receiver.  Click on the Port Search button if you don’t know the port number and on each new search you can click on the connect button.  If it connects it will turn green.  Test your remote by pressing a button on the remote.  If you see some text displayed in the text box in Step 4, then your remote is correctly configured.
